The Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) held its 2nd Executive Committee Meeting on July 16, 2025, at Sun City Suites. During this key gathering, the 10-Year Mangrove and Beach Forest Investment Plan for CY 2026–2034 received official approval.
Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer highlighted the plan as a local response to a national call, aiming to protect coastal communities from climate threats, ensure food security, and preserve ecological integrity. These greenbelt zones serve as natural buffers and vital nursery habitats.

The SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. (SFFAII), represented by Executive Director Ms. Rosanna Bernadette Contreras, attended the meeting, showing support for this crucial environmental initiative.
This plan details strategies to restore, conserve, and sustainably manage mangrove and beach forest areas within the protected seascape. Its timely approval aligns with DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2025-066, which encourages coastal local government units (LGUs) to establish greenbelt zones for climate resilience. It promotes a collaborative, community-driven approach, calling on LGUs for active participation.
