IFARMC-SBPS held its 1st Quarter Meeting of 2025. Part of the event was a presentation focusing on sustainability in fisheries, eco-label certification, and the ongoing efforts of the FFSAPI-SARGEN Handline Fisheries Improvement Project.
A petition was submitted by industry representatives from the Philippines during the 21st Regular Session of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC), held from November 28 to December 3, 2024, in Suva, Fiji.
The Employer’s Forum organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on October 31, 2024, in General Santos City, centered on improving labor standards, occupational safety, and productivity in industries such as fishing, manufacturing, and labor services.
From October 14 to 19, 2024, Becky Caton, Key Traceability Social Auditor visited General Santos City to conduct a Social Risk Assessment focusing on transparency and operational compliance within the fishing industry.
Ms. Emma Garay, President of the FFSAPI, delivered the Fisheries Improvement Project updates during the second day of the 24th National Tuna Congress on September 4, 2024, held at Robinsons Gensan, General Santos City, Philippines.
